"Picture The Ramones, dressed like the Rat Pack, playing on Johnny Cash's gear" - Beatroute Magazine

Sometimes miracles happen and magic is created in an instant. Other times, it takes 15 years, multiple lineups, nearly a dozen albums, hundreds of live shows and thousands of kilometers until four people enter a studio to create what they consider their best work of their careers.

Such is the story of The Hi-Strung Downers, a four-piece forged in Calgary, Alberta, Canada out of the ashes of some of Western Canada’s most active rockabilly, punk rock and alt-country units from the past decade and a half.

On their sophomore release, Can’t Feel Good All The Time, the Downers have transcended those rockabilly roots and crafted a sound all their own; rooted in the classic sounds of 1950’s and 60’s rock and roll, rhythm and blues and country western with punk rock attitude and Rat Pack style.  It’s not 1955 anymore, and neither is this record or this sound.

Upcoming Shows

October 13 - Golden Taps Pub (Nelson)

October 14 - Fernando's Pub (Kelowna)
October 15 - Nelson Legion (Nelson)

This follow up from 2014’s Here She Lies contains 11 tracks that touch on themes of heartbreak, death, revenge, lust, self destruction and loss, all the while maintaining a beat and sound that makes the audience want to dance, drink, shout and sweat.  Can’t Feel Good All The Time is the soundtrack to your first night on the town after leaving your significant somebody: looking for a good time that will take away your pain, even for just a little while.

In the two years since their debut album, The Hi-Strung Downers have been packing venues across Western Canada with their unique sound including several West Coast tours, headlining slots at the Medicine Hat Jazz Festival three years running and regular weekend swings to Edmonton, Red Deer, Saskatoon and Regina. The Hi-Strung Downers bring a high energy presence to the stage backed with tight musicianship and a diversity that can only come with four different vocalists and songwriters.

As Can’t Feel Good All The Time prepares to hit store shelves and merch tables, The Hi-Strung Downers are prepared to take their sound to your ears, feet and hearts.
